Microneedling with PRP Q & A

What is microneedling?

Microneedling is one of the most popular skin rejuvenation treatments in the United States today. During this procedure, your Utopia Med Spa provider uses a small microneedling device with a group of tiny needles to make tiny punctures in your skin.

Because each “stamp” of the microneedling device creates around a dozen punctures, you soon have hundreds of channels that reach directly into your skin’s subdermal layers.

By agitating the skin’s subdermal cells, you trigger fresh collagen and elastin production. Collagen and elastin are what smooths, firms, and creates overall gorgeous-looking skin.

Although microneedling is a powerful rejuvenative treatment on its own, there’s a way to ramp up the benefits even more — adding platelet-rich plasma (PRP).

What is PRP?

PRP is part of your blood — the most powerful part! The platelets within your blood have tremendous restorative powers because they’re full of growth factors.

Growth factors support skin repair and healing. They help you make more of your own natural collagen and elastin, which means that PRP pairs with microneedling particularly well.

What problems do microneedling and PRP help with?

Microneedling and PRP can help with a variety of skin concerns, including:

  • Enlarged pores
  • Acne scars
  • Poor skin elasticity that causes skin to sag
  • Reduced facial volume
  • Dry or dull looking skin
  • Fine lines and wrinkles

Microneedling and PRP can address trouble areas as well as enhancing your whole-face look.

How does microneedling with PRP treatment work?

First, your Utopia Med Spa provider withdraws a sample of your blood, and then uses a state-of-the-art centrifuge to spin it at high speed. With the concentrated growth separated from the rest of your blood, the PRP is ready for use.

During the microneedling with PRP procedure, your Utopia Med Spa provider creates the tiny punctures in your skin, and then delivers the PRP directly below your skin. This intradermal delivery is optimal because the PRP is exactly where it’s needed for maximum rejuvenation.

What is microchanneling?

Microchanneling is a special variation of microneedling with PRP that Utopia Med Spa patients love. This super-facial uses thinner-than-usual microneedles to create the microchannels for PRP delivery.

Microchanneling still includes PRP, but it adds two other things: a neuromodulator like Botox® or Dysport® and a dermal filler like Restylane® or Juvéderm®.

Infusion of PRP, wrinkle relaxers, and fillers all at once gives you instant results, with continued great results as the PRP rejuvenates your skin.
